There’s nothing better than a soft, gooey and abundantly chocolatey Walnut Fudge. It’s perfect for any dessert craving and also for holiday gifting.
My Fantasy Fudge and Cookie and Cream Fudge recipes were a big hit. Everyone loved the amazing dessert. And since then, I have been getting requests to make a walnut fudge. Obviously, I had to oblige.
While making fudge may seem too easy, there are a few things that go wrong that will make the whole dessert not so pleasing. This recipe is a full-proof one that will help you get those perfect fudge bites every time you make them.
I find chocolate fudge a great gifting dessert. For one, it has a better shelf-life than other desserts. Plus, it’s chocolate, which is loved by all.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe?
- Smooth Fudge: If a fudge is not silky, smooth and does not have melt-in-the-mouth type of texture, then it’s not a good fudge. I love this recipe because it has a great smooth texture to it, which you cannot resist.
- Easy To Make: All you need is five ingredients, and you can make the most decadent fudge of all time. The process is simple, and it’s ready in 4 hours, unlike other recipes, which require a minimum of 8 hours of freezing time.
- Perfect For Any Occasion: Whether you have guests coming over or you want to gift sweet treats to your loved ones, this fudge is absolutely perfect for any occasion.
Important Ingredients Used In The Recipe
- Condensed Milk: No eggless fudge is complete without condensed milk. It plays a significant role in its flavour and texture. The sweetness and chewiness come from condensed milk.
- Dark Chocolate: If you want everyone to fall in love with this fudge, then use the best Belgian dark chocolate available in your city. I prefer the Van Houten or Callebaut brand with 46.5% cocoa mass. The cocoa butter present in couverture chocolate gives authentic and true chocolate flavour.
- Walnuts: Adding a crunch and nutty flavour to the fudge, walnuts have been added. Use good quality walnuts, as bad ones can add bitterness to the fudge.
- Butter: Adding butter to the fudge makes it smoother and shinier. It enhances the buttery flavour of the fudge.
- Natural Cocoa Powder: Like truffles, I like dusting some cocoa powder on the fudge, which gives a nice contrast to its sweetness.
How To Make Chocolate Walnut Fudge
Preparation: Collect the ingredients, tools and equipment needed for making the fudge. Cling wrap a 6-inch square ring twice from one end.
Melt Chocolate, Condensed Milk and Butter: In a bowl, take Chopped dark chocolate, condensed milk and butter. Melt all three together in the microwave. Keep stirring the mixture in between to ensure even heating. Melt and mix until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Add Walnuts: Chip walnuts and add them to the fudge mixture. Fold them well so that they are evenly distributed in the batter.
Cool: Let the mixture cool down a little before setting it.
Freeze: Transfer the mixture into the prepared square ring and spread the fudge using a bent palette knife. Put the fudge in the freeze for 3-4 hours.
Cut in Portions: Once the fudge is set, remove the cling wrap from the bottom. Run a heat gun or blow dryer on the outside edge of the ring to remove the ring as well. Cut the fudge into nine even squares using a warm knife.
Serve: Dust the fudge pieces with some natural cocoa powder and serve the delicious dessert.
Chef’s Tips For The Recipe
Make Neat Cuts To Serve
While cutting the fudge into nine portions, make sure that you are making sharp and even cuts. For that purpose, use a warm knife so the knife will glide through the fudge.
Make A Smooth Fudge Mixture
While making the initial fudge mixture, you can either use a microwave or a double boiler to heat it up. Either way, you have to ensure that the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
How To Store Chocolate Walnut Fudge
You may store the fudge cling-wrapped and in an airtight box at room temperature if the temperature is below 25°C.
Above that temperature, you must store the fudge in an airtight box in the refrigerator and consume it within 2-3 weeks.
Storing it in the freezer will increase the shelf life to a month.
Never store the fudge without any wrap or an airtight box, as it will attract moisture and become sticky.
