- Easy to Make: The cookies are super easy to make. The base cookie recipe is a classic vanilla cookie. All you have to do is add chunks of chocolates and candies while shaping them. Place your favourite ones on top and press them slightly. That’s it; they are ready to be baked.
Important Ingredients Used In The Recipe
- All-Purpose Flour: It is recommended to use all-purpose flour for this recipe rather than whole-wheat, as the cookies will taste best when made with APF. It provides the right amount of gluten and the correct texture needed for the recipe.
- Brown Sugar: Brown sugar provides a nice and subtle caramelized flavour. It keeps the cookies soft and chewy, giving the perfect texture.
- Assorted Candies: Just grab all the candies and chocolates you have to make the most of them. You must chop up the chocolates to fit them in the cookies. Candies that are big in size also need to be roughly chopped.
How To Make Halloween Candy Cookies
Preparation: Collect all ingredients needed for the recipe. Also, gather assorted candies and chocolates. Preheat the oven to 180C (OTG mode: upper rod + lower rod + fan). Line a baking tray with a silicon mat or butter paper.
Creaming: Take softened butter and both sugars in a large mixing bowl. Cream them together until the mixture gets light and fluffy. You can use a spatula to do this.
Add Wet Ingredients: Once the creaming is done, add eggs and vanilla essence to it. Mix it well so that the egg gets thoroughly mixed with the butter.
Add Dry Ingredients: Add sifted dt ingredients, which are flour and baking powder. Combine everything to make a smooth cookie dough.
Shaping: After the dough is made, it’s time to shape the cookies. For that, take 60g of dough and give it a ball shape. Place these balls on a lined baking tray and flatten them out a little.
Garnish and Freezing: It’s time for the fun part. Add in pieces of assorted chopped chocolates and candies on each cookie. Place them randomly and press them into the dough. Place the tray in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.
Bake: remove the tray from the freezer and put the cookies for baking at 180C (OTG mode: upper rod + lower rod + fan) for 15-18 minutes. You will notice slight golden amber colour appearing on the edges.
Chef’s Tips For The Recipe
Do Not Add Too Many Candies
Although you have the freedom to add any candy or chocolate of your choice, however, place them in a balanced manner. Do not overcrowd the cookie with too many candies.
Do Not Over Work the Dough
Once the dry ingredients get mixed properly into the batter and a dough is formed, do not continue to mix the dough. Overworking cookie dough leads to wet and sticky dough.
How To Store Halloween Candy Cookies
Cool the cookies completely before storing them in an airtight container. They will last up to 3-4 days at room temperature.
