Important Ingredients In Vegan Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

  • Vegan chocolate: Since we are making a vegan version of the recipe, it’s important to use vegan-friendly chocolate only. You can also use normal dark couverture chocolate brands like Van Houten or Callebaut if you are not looking for a vegan recipe.
  • Peanut butter: I am using Pintola’s Creamy peanut butter for this recipe; you can also use Fun Foods. For a healthier version, you can also try using My Fitness Peanut Butter.
  • Icing sugar: We’ll be creaming the peanut butter with icing sugar to get a smooth, pipeable peanut butter filling.
  • Sea Salt: It adds that savory hint to the peanut butter cups, heightening their overall flavor.

How To Make Vegan Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

  • Melt the chocolate: In a bowl, take the vegan chocolate and melt it in the microwave at 30-second intervals. Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag.
  • Line the cupcake tray: Line a 6-cavity cupcake tray with cupcake liners. It will ensure we achieve the signature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups look.
  • Pipe the chocolate and freeze: Pipe the first layer of melted chocolate into the cupcake liners until 1/3rd full. Let it set in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes until it is semi-set.
  • Make the peanut butter filling: While the chocolate sets, make the peanut butter filling. In a bowl, soften the creamy peanut butter using a spatula. Then add icing sugar and mix until you get a smooth, pipeable consistency. Transfer this filling to a piping bag.
  • Pipe the peanut butter filling: Once the first layer of chocolate is semi-set, pipe an even layer of peanut butter filling in the center.
  • Pipe the second layer of chocolate: Now we’ll pipe the remaining chocolate over the peanut butter filling and gently tap the cupcake tray 3 – 4 times to evenly distribute the chocolate.
  • Sprinkle sea salt & refrigerate: Sprinkle some sea salt flakes over the chocolate and refrigerate it for 10 – 15 minutes, or until it sets completely. Once the chocolate sets, gently remove the cupcake liners.

  1. Have been waiting for a vegan version of this for soo long! What alternatives would you recommend for peanut butter? Can I make it with any nut butter?

    1. Chef Meenal Saini

You can use any other nut butter as well for this recipe, like hazelnut butter, but then we cannot call it a Reese’s cup. A classic Reese’s cup is made using peanut butter only.

  2. Shibani Chakraborty

Chef ,I have tried the recipe and had taken the photograph too,but unable to upload it .. I have used normal couveture chocolate as vegan chocolate was not available..

    1. Chef Meenal Saini

Yes it’s totally fine if you have used normal dark couverture. Only if you have to serve vegan version, you need the vegan chocolate.
