Is it too late to switch to baking at 34 with a full-time job and a home loan?
I am 34, I have a home loan running, and a job I am competent at but have stopped caring about. I have been baking on weekends for about four years now and it is the only part of my week I look forward to.
The fear is not the work. It is the sequencing. If I quit and train full time, I have roughly fourteen months of runway before things get uncomfortable. If I train part time while working, I suspect I will do both badly.
Has anyone here made this move later rather than straight out of college? What did you do about income during the training period, and how long was it before the new path paid for itself? I would rather hear the version with the boring financial details than the inspirational one.
