can I make candied orange from regular fresh oranges? malta season here

Baking & Technique candied-orangechocolatefruit

Want to make candied orange for chocolate work and gift boxes. All I can get locally right now is regular fresh oranges and malta. Do these work or does candied orange need some special variety?

Want the version of this answer that comes with a kitchen?

They work perfectly - fresh orange peel is exactly what candied orange IS. No special variety required, and malta is completely fine... our own class batch was made with malta oranges.

Thicker-skinned fruit is actually easier to work with (more peel to candy), so malta season is good timing, not a compromise. Go ahead confidently.

malta being the GOOD option for once 😄 winter gift boxes sorted
