So don’t wait anymore and try this frosting with your favorite dessert.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe?
- Texture: The frosting is amazingly creamy and smooth. Unlike basic cream cheese frosting, which may sometimes feel dense, this frosting does not feel as heavy. It has a buttery, Silky texture which I’m sure you will all love.
- It’s Pipeable: Adding cocoa powder brings a lot more stability to the frosting. Even after freezing, the basic cream cheese frosting does not pipe as smoothly as we want it. However, piping isn’t a problem with chocolate cream cheese frosting. You easily pipe your favorite border designs on the cake.
- Flavoursome: Most frostings are either too sweet or too dark chocolatey in taste. However, this frosting has the perfect balance between sweet, tangy, and chocolatey flavors. You will definitely enjoy pairing this floating with many desserts.
Important Ingredients Used In The Recipe
- Cream Cheese: It’s important to understand here that type and consistency of cream cheese really matter a lot while making this frosting. Ensure that you aren’t using a cream cheese spread but using only a cream cheese block. Also, the cream cheese shouldn’t be in a runny state. It should be solid, grainy, and creamy.
- Natural Cocoa Powder: Since the frosting isn’t supposed to be too dark or chocolatey, I’m using natural cocoa powder in the recipe instead of Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
- Unsalted Butter: The unsalted butter must be at a soft stage. That means you should be able to press it. Using too soft or too hard butter won’t give the appropriate results that we need for the frosting. Beating the butter helps incorporate air making the frosting fluffy.
How To Make Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
Preparation: Collect all ingredients in different bowls that are needed for the recipe. Prepare a hand beater fixed with whisk attachments.
Creaming: Take soft unsalted butter in a mixing bowl and start beating it with a hand beater at a medium speed until it gets light and fluffy.
Add Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the creamed butter and continue to beat it at medium speed until the cream cheese gets incorporated well into the butter.
Milk and Icing Sugar: in a different bowl, mix icing sugar and milk. Mix until the sugar gets dissolved completely.
Add Milk-Sugar Mixture: Now, once the cream cheese and butter have been creamed well, start adding the milk-sugar mixture gradually. Beat it continuously. In the beginning, it may seem that the mixture is not getting incorporated as it is liquid and fat being mixed. However, with continuous beating, the milk will get combined with the butter.
Add Cocoa Powder and Salt: It’s time to finally add sifted natural cocoa powder and salt to the above mixture. Beat this well, and your delicious frosting is ready.
Chef’s Tips For The Recipe
Tip For Piping
As this frosting is good enough for piping, there’s a key tip to follow to get vest results. Before piping, it is advisable to refrigerate the frosting for 20-30 minutes. This will ensure good piping consistency.
Sieve Dry Ingredients
While making the frosting, you must sieve the icing sugar and cocoa powder. Though Icing sugar is getting mixed and dissolved in milk first, sifting ensures there aren’t any hard lumps that may not get dissolved in the milk.
How To Store Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
Use it immediately when prepared. If made ahead of time, then you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
